Getting Started with Eigma
Welcome to Eigma
In the age of large language models, answers are cheap. You can ask your chatbot (ChatGPT, Claude, or any other) almost anything and get a fluent reply in seconds. But an answer you read once rarely becomes yours: it scrolls past, and next week you could not explain it. Eigma exists to close that gap. It keeps what is worth mastering and helps you make it stick, so what your chatbot teaches you ends up in your head, not just on your screen.
What Eigma is for
Eigma turns the conversations you already have into a personal wiki, plus short quizzes to help it sink in. Everything you bring in goes to the right place on its own: something new gets its own page in the chapter it belongs to, and something you have met before is added to the page that already covers it. Pages link to each other as you read, so your wiki keeps growing into your own framework of knowledge, next to your chatbot rather than inside it.
The measure is not how much you have stored. It is how much you have actually internalized.
What is in this guide
| Chapter | What it covers |
|---|---|
| The learning loop | The five steps that turn a chat into knowledge you keep |
| Getting a conversation into Eigma | Connect your chatbot, or copy and paste, then review what it wrote |
| Your wiki, organized and easy to navigate | Pages, chapters, self-forming links, volumes |
| Making pages and chapters your own | Editing, annotating, restructuring, and changes your chatbot suggests |
| Recall colours and review | What the colours mean, and how review adapts to you |
These are ordinary wiki pages, so reading and quizzing them works just as it does for the knowledge you add yourself.
Common questions
Do I need an account? No. Your wiki lives on this device, and everything in this guide works offline without signing in. Signing in is free and worth doing anyway: it is what lets you connect ChatGPT or Claude to Eigma, so a conversation reaches your wiki with nothing to copy, and it backs your knowledge up to the cloud instead of leaving it in one browser.
Is this just another second brain? A second brain is a place to put things, and it stays useful only as long as you keep tidying it. Eigma files and maintains itself as you add to it, and then does the part storage cannot: it quizzes you, notices what is fading, and brings it back before you lose it. The goal is not knowledge you can find again but knowledge you actually hold.
