Getting Started with Eigma
The learning loop
Keeping knowledge is a loop, not a one-off. Storing a page is only the start. Eigma is built around five steps that repeat, and each pass makes an idea a little more yours.

The five steps
| Step | What happens | What it does for you |
|---|---|---|
| Capture | You bring in a conversation you learned from | Nothing worth keeping is left in the chat |
| File | The lasting ideas are organized into pages, and you approve what joins your wiki | Your wiki grows without you sorting it |
| Read | You open a page and take it in | The idea is in front of you again |
| Test | You answer its short questions | You produce the answer yourself, which is what proves you know it |
| Refresh | You revisit what is starting to fade, right before you would forget it | It sets in for good instead of slipping away |
Reading something once feels like learning, but it slips away fast. The loop is what makes it last: reading puts an idea in front of you, testing has you produce it yourself, and refreshing brings it back just as it starts to fade. That is how a passing answer becomes knowledge you keep.
Common questions
Why not just read the pages? Recognizing an idea on the page is easy. Producing the answer yourself is what proves you actually know it, which is why testing and refreshing are part of the loop and reading alone is not enough.
Do I run these steps in order every time? Capture and file happen together when you bring a chat in. Read, test and refresh then repeat on their own schedule for as long as you keep the page.
